March and April 2008
THE choir would like to thank the very enthusiastic and appreciative audience who supported the Spring Concert on Sunday 16th March. It proved to be a very popular choice with the audience, the favourite choruses from classical operas striking just the right chord. It was a pity so many of our usual supporters missed such a popular concert. The soloists were superb and enjoyed a standing ovation so richly deserved.
Each year staging a concert of this calibre becomes more expensive and it’s only through support in patronage and attendance that the ACU can sustain two concerts in a year. Our thanks go also to the many people who helped in any way to make the concert such a success. ACU takes up again in September and welcomes anyone wishing to join.

POPULAR CHORUSES FROM CLASSICAL FAVOURITES
REHEARSALS for the Spring Concert are in full swing at Alyth Parish Church on Tuesday evenings from 7.30 to 9.30. Choir members would welcome more men in both sections of the choir, and are hoping that this year’s Spring Concert will attract some new members.
This year sees a departure from strictly choral music with popular choruses from the many favourite classical operas. These include ‘Carmen’, ‘Hebrew Slaves Chorus’, ‘Bridal Chorus’ (Here comes the Bride) and ‘The Anvil Chorus’ – to name but a few.
The very popular young soloists from last year are joining us once again ensuring a polished and professional performance.
Should you wish to become a patron of Alyth Choral Union, please contact 01828 632036 for further information.
More details of the A.C.U. Spring Concert will be posted in March edition of the Voice, or online www.alythchoralunion.org.uk
